The Greenwich Police Department issued an alert cautioning that Fairfield Road is closed between Old Church Road and Hillside Road due to a crash that led to complications for local officials.
Police said that at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, a motorist struck and knocked down a utility pole on Fairfield Road. While replacing the pole overnight, a water main was struck and broken.
According to police, utility crews are currently at the scene and are making repairs to the water main and replace the pole. The roadway is expected to be closed throughout the day.
While work is in progress, motorists can expect delays and have been encouraged to seek alternate routes.
